PERSEPHONE (1995)
by Robyn Douglas
Oil on Canvas 660mm x 880mm
The landscape is a windswept hillside on the coast of Raglan combined with a drawing of a model. Persephone was the Greek godess whose daughter was stolen by Pluto, the King of the Underworld. Every Spring she was allowed back to earth, and every Autumn she returned to her husband. Winter was when Persephone mourned and Summer was when she rejoiced.
